The year started off quiet for us. We mostly spent a good amount of time getting settled in on the second floor of the new house, and slowly chipping away at the first floor. But you want to hear about YOU, right? So, we'll start with your Tato's birthday. On January 4th, he got the best birthday present. He went with your mama to the doctor, and they gave her an ultrasound. We got to see you for the first time, and we heard your tiny heartbeat. It was ultra-fast and awesome. They gave us this picture of your tiny body.
One thing you'll come to learn is that you're a lucky kid who will always have two Christmases. Your Tato was born here where Christmas is on December 25th. You've already heard about that one. Your mom was born in Ukraine, and in Ukraine they celebrate Christmas a couple weeks later. You'll call it Rizdvo, and you'll have a great dinner. This year we had dinner at your Dido and Babsya's house, and it was a really fun time. Their friends, the Kukuruza's were there, and we met for the first time Nadia and her fiance' David. They were just recently engaged, and if you're born on time, you'll probably go to their wedding, but we won't hold it against you if you don't remember, as you'll only be a month or so old.
A week or so later we went for brunch at your Tia Maria and Tio William's new house, and we saw their baby, Ceci, her brother, Nico, and our friends Mariama and Paul, and Gayle and Nick, who have a brand new baby named Lucia. She's adorable, and I'm sure you'll get along well when you finally meet.
January 25th would have been your grandpa's birthday. This was the first January 25th since he died, and your dad misses him. But you'll hear lots of stories about him. We'll make sure you see some video and tell you all the things he would have said to embarrass you.
January 30th is your step-grandpa Joe's birthday (we'll likely not refer to him as that, because it's awkward as all get out) and he's looking forward to meeting you too.
